3 Texture Challenge!

So 365 Cards has a fun challenge on today, to use 3 different elements of texture on a card, I used a fabric flower, a plaid ribbon and swirl of Say it in Crystals. This card is also a taste of what's to come, all the materials used for this card (accept the Crystals) were from the Abby Road Collection which will be featured in May!

Happy Day

Here is my take on this week's sketch by Laura at 2S4U! I made a birthday card for a little girl's party we have this weekend. All of the materials are from next month's Fawnd of You kit, accept the Q&Co mini flower, and the Prima Say It In Crystals. I also stitched random x's on the side with In Stich'z Floss.

New Home

Here is my take on the card pattern's sketch, I rotated it 90 degrees counter clockwise and went from there. I decided to put together this card with some of the newest goodies from CHA 2009, and our kit that will be released April 1st. This card also falls into the guidelines set by 365 card's challenge to create a nature scene. I had created this card with this very theme in mind before the challenge was even set, so I just had to share it. The background paper mimic's sun-ray's, the crystals are representative of a warm breeze and this little bird has a new home. His nest and the backgound for the tree was created by taking apart a Lollipop Frosty Orange Flower. The cardstock and background paper are from next month's Fawnd of You kit, as are the chipboard tree and the patterned paper with the owls on it. The stitches were made with In Stitch'z Floss, and the rhinestones are Prima's Clear Say it In Crystals and the letters are Prima too, just using up left overs from past kits. Lastly the flower on the bird is from the Queen and Co. new bulk mini flower set.

Birthday card

There is a fun challenge on today at 365 cards to create a birthday card, that doesn't have a birthday message on the front. Well since my 2 year old can't read anyway and is turning 3 soon, I created this card for her. She loves cats and my girl friend gave me these papers for her. It was so quick to make, it was done in 5 minutes, I'm really getting a lot of use out of my square punches this week, they made the card so easy to create.

Something Sweet...

Papertake has a fun challenge on this week to create a card with something edible! So here is a mix of kits to create a yummy card. The ribbon and patterned paper is from next month's kit, the scallop strips are from this month's kit, the "yum" letters and jems are from January's kit. I also stitched with the bazzill floss and used the Heidi Swapp dot rub-ons.

The Difference A Day makes!

Okay, so I got together with some girlfriends last night at a crop and I wanted to make a card for the 365 cards challenge of using Red, Yellow, and Blue. These are not normally colours I work with, so I grabbed some scrap paper and ribbon from the girls and created what looked like a card that just feel into a bin of scraps and came out with some paper stuck to it! Well I refused to be defeated by scrap paper so I reconstructed the card and using the same scraps and a few added embellishments I came up with this. Wish I had taken a picture of the original, it was good for a laugh!

Being Efficient!

I tried two fun challenges today, one over at 365 cards, to make a card with 5 pp and 5 embellishments (ticket, letters, pearls, flower, chipboard). I combined this with another challenge site Cupcake Craft Challenges asking for a spring themed card. So I feel very efficient getting two challenges done in one card!

Products used for this card all came from next month's very spring coloured Fawnd of You Collection that will go online April 1st!

Notebook

This notebook is such a fun project. I was inspired to recover a notebook by a talented Canadian paper crafter found at Moralia's Weblog.

Here I simply wound the spiral binding out from the notebook then put my chosen card stock over top and cut it to match. Then I used the original cover as a template to line up where the holes needed to be, I taped the two together and I used my crop-a-dile to punch the holes.

I layered a strip of different patterned paper and then the owl trim on the bottom. I suggest a corner rounder to round off the bottom corners, the scallops of my trim did the trick but if your using a different strip you'll want to round them. I used the rub-ons to create a message above the owl trim. Wrapped a ribbon around the whole cover and tied it in a knot. Then cut out the semi-circle and taped it in place and traced it's outline with the stickles glitter. I cut out an additional owl and used a pop-dot to make him 3D and just placed him over where the owl was on the paper. Lastly I cut out a flower and used a glue dot to place it on the knot of the ribbon.

Then I just wound the spiral binding back through. The project was complete, it took just 10 mins from start to finish! Now I bought these all retail from Staples in case you wanted to make more, they were inexpensive and easy to find. Add a pencil and some magnets and it would make a great little gift for someone.
